Recent upturn offers hope
There is a small sign of improvement, with two of those three wins coming in the last five encounters. Jim Goodwin, now in charge of Dundee United, has a strong personal record against his former employers. "I have a 1.75 points-per-game average against his former side St Mirren in the league (P12 W6 D3 L3), his joint highest as a manager against any opponent," Goodwin said. Defensive issues a concern
St Mirren's wider defensive record this season is also under scrutiny. Only Aberdeen, with 15, have suffered more top-flight defeats in 2026 than the Saints' 14. They will also be without the services of Keanu Baccus, Liam Donnelly and Malik Dijksteel.
