Over 300 Children Participate in Free St Mirren Summer Camp
More than 300 children took part in a free summer camp offering sport, healthy meals, and learning opportunities. The Fit and Fed programme, delivered by the St Mirren FC Charitable Foundation, ran for six weeks during the school holidays, providing 60 sessions across Ferguslie Sports Centre and Renfrew Leisure Centre.
What Happened?
The camp included football, educational workshops, and day trips, all designed to keep children engaged, active, and healthy during the summer break. Coaches ran a varied schedule combining football, learning, and community experiences to keep children engaged and supported during the holidays.
Why it Matters for St Mirren
The foundation works closely with schools and community groups to reach those most in need. The programme is supported by major funders including the Scottish Government and The Merchants House of Glasgow. Meals and More, another key partner, recently extended its funding through to Easter 2027, ensuring children will continue to receive healthy food during future school breaks.
What Comes Next?
St Mirren FC also helped create memorable experiences for participants. First-team players, including captain Marcus Fraser, Jayden Richardson, and Jacob Chapman, visited the camp for Q&A sessions and joined the children in football activities. St Mirren WFC's players Aimee Machett and Kimberly Gill also took part, sharing their experiences in the sport.
