St Mirren have offered midfielder Mark O'Hara a new contract, writes Kyle Gunn. The deal is a good one as the Buddies look to tie down their skipper ahead of the new season.
What happened?
O'Hara only made 31 appearances last campaign and missed the Premier Sports Cup final victory over Celtic in December as he struggled with injury.
Kilmarnock, who O'Hara represented for four years between 2012 and 2016, are also battling hard for his signature this summer. He’s still a target for Neil McCann and could be reunited with former St Mirren teammate Greg Kiltie at Rugby Park.
Why it matters for St Mirren
There’s also interest in the player from teams in Asia and Eastern Europe, as both Saints and Killie hope to convince the Barrhead boy to stay in Scotland. It could be an important re-signing for Craig McLeish with the 30-year-old having worn the black and white stripes 142 times since 2022.
What comes next?
McLeish’s first arrival as permanent manager was confirmed as 25-year-old Samuel Ramos. The Spanish attacking midfielder scored seven times in 20 appearances last term in the Slovakian top flight for Zemplín Michalovce, someone he’d been tracking since his interim spell in charge.
Welsh left-back Declan John has agreed a new two-year contract extension with the club, through until 2028. More signings are expected in the coming days and weeks for the Paisley side as the season approaches.

And the club have appointed a new Head of Recruitment, Gavin Miller, who is charged with helping the new boss to find the players to help them finish higher up the table this time around. The 36-year-old landed the gig on a full-time basis on a three-year contract after securing the club’s Premiership safety by beating Championship outfit Partick Thistle in the two-leg playoff final.
